I wanna hear what you think…
Here’s what I think. There are just too many thoughts buzzing around my head as to how Sherlock pulled off that ‘death’ act at the end of Season Two. I know many of us have created our own theories and deductions if you will, based on the many perfectly plot out scenes and camera angles.
I don’t have a solid case but I do know this.
So in the beginning of the episode I spotted a hanging dummy (this reminded me of the Sherlock movie with Downey and Law when Sherlock[Downey] was testing Blackwood’s fake death by hanging himself) True that the death in the movie was not like that of the BBC show but! It hints to the point that Sherlock may have been experimenting with death.
I also noticed that throughout the entire episode Sherlock did his best to keep John away, getting him upset or taking his own taxi. Whatever it took it seemed they were often separated. This to me means two things, one Sherlock was protecting John and two he was ensuring that John knew nothing of his plans (experiments). In short he wants John’s reaction to be pure, unhinged.
The scene in which the young girl screams at the sight of Sherlocks face. Now I know the BBC show has not played on Sherlocks characteristic of being the master of disguise but we all know this to be apart of the man. And that being said, if Sherlock can hide easily, change appearance perfectly. Whose to say his enemy cannot do the same?
We also know that Sherlock asked Molly to do something, that something is a mystery to me and I hope everyone, unless I missed something vital. But we must take this into consideration as well, what could he have asked her to do? The better question is what would Molly have been willing to do for him? My answer, almost anything.
The vital scene, the rooftop.
There are numerous factors within this short lived scene. I will try to name in order, bare with me while my mind works.
I believe that something happened, something we are unaware of, when Sherlock shook Moriarty’s hand. At the moment I am drawing a blank to any theory’s on this but I know it is important, they would not have extenuated it so perfectly if otherwise.
The so called shooters, were they a ruse? This I am still unsure of. Some say that one of the shooters looked like Sherlock, others say he is another important character from Doyle’s series. Still unsure.
There were several angles whilst we were given Sherlocks eyes, looking down onto the street at John. We were able to see the street, people, a truck of some sort, etc. The angles tell us that Sherlock must have been calculating something, possibly a way to ‘fall without injury?’ His experiment coming to play soon.
[Side note] If you all remember, Sherlock was tossing a ball moments before Moriarty met him atop the hospital. I have heard people say that if you place a ball under your armpit it will stop your pulse. I have tested and confirmed this theory. My pulse slowed at first, it took less then a minute before my pulse vanished. And hello I am still alive!
The final and I think most important part of the episode. Sherlocks emotions. Something we rarely see. Something that needed to be so pure, so raw and so real for John to believe without a doubt that this was it. The end of Sherlock Holmes.
I know I don’t have a conclusion per say but this has been toiling around my nogin for quite some time and there, I’ll let you deduce the ending. I’d still like to hear what all of you think. Agree? Disagree? New theories?
ADDITION
I forgot to mention the biker who bumped into John just as Sherlock was falling, this is also vital. For what? So John doesn’t see where Sherlock falls (possibly into a soft bedded truck? Or even a body double?) Again more theories no conclusion.
